CREATIVE MEDIA – REFLECTION AND EVALUATION
1. As a group we have completed our props and costume list, this consists of a tss uniform, a garden gnome, and a chess board.
2. I have completed the film break down sheet for scene one... in journal.
3. We have made a plan for shooting the film. I will be the director and Georgia and Thalia will be the actors. We have planned to film footage during week eight, and we will be filming in the school chapel.
4. During the filming and process of making the movie, we had difficulties mixing all of our movies together, and deciding on ideas, we also found it hard as a group to get organised with bringing props and costumes.
5. During the making of the film, we have discovered that we are all very creative, and have imaginative minds.
6. We are satisfied with the film process so far, but if we were all more organised it would make a much better and more satisfying film process.
7. As a group we have not organised our time very efficiently as we forget to bring costumes and props to school, and find ourselves having to wait longer to start the filming phase of the assessment.
8. If i could, i would like to change the storyline of our film, i think it will be hard what we have chosen to do. We will have to be more organised to get the film finished by the end of the term.
9. If i could start again, i would choose a different story.
10. We have uploaded all footage so far onto a school computer and a usb so all footage is safe.

The Romantic/Epic genre is one that is close to all of our hearts, drawing on child hood fantasies and inspiring us to dream big things. The two particular scenes that I will be comparing are the popular ice burg scene from the ‘Titanic,’ and the scene in the movie ‘Australia’, where they have to hide Nullah from the white authorities. Both these scenes, are strong in terms of the director’s choices for mis en scene, cinematography and sound and editing. My focus is on looking at the elements of lighting, acting and props which are create suspense and intrigue.
The Romantic/Epic is very unique because it has many great reasons that keeps the audience is captured. For example, the romance factor, this pays a big part in keeping the audience interested. The adventure also film keeps us fascinated and waiting in anticipation for the big event.
Through the successful use of Mise En scene both the ‘Titanic’ and ‘Australia’, create a feeling of suspense, intrigue and keep the audience on the edge of their seat. The two chosen scenes are similar, because they both involve a race against time. In ‘Australia’ they are rushing to hide Nullah from the white authorities, before they arrive at the house in search for him. In the titanic, they are rushing to turn the boat before it encounters the ice berg ahead. All whilst this is happening, there is romance being developed.
Loud noises are shown in both these scenes from each of these movies, and they type of music heard which creates panic and anticipation in the audience. The setting of the scene creates confusion and more anticipation as there is the possibility of so many things that can happen. For example, in the movie the titanic, in the ice berg scene which is set on the boat, there is no escaping at this time, and the people on the boat have to wait scared as the boat slowly approaches the ice berg. In the movie Australia, when they see the authorities car impending from the distance, there is only a short amount of time they have to hide Nullah.
In both films, the lighting is another give away that there is danger, for example in the titanic, it is night time, and the people aboard the boat are unaware of how close they are to hitting the ice berg, or if they are even going to hit it. This is similar to in the scene from the movie Australia, where Nullah and his mother, have decided to hide in the water tank, in the dark, unable to see what is going on and where the authorities are. Both of these scenes show great danger, and leave the audience in suspense, whilst there is also the treat of drowning, in the Titanic, if the boat happens to sink, and in the movie Australia, if Nullah and his mother were to drown in the water tank.
Both of these scenes are topped off with something bad happening, for example, in the Titanic, the boat does hit the ice berg, and water leaks in. And in Australia, whilst Nullah hasn’t been found by the authorities, when the others come to help them get out, they find that Nullah’s mother who has been hiding with him has drown.
In conclusion, the movie Australia, and the Titanic, shows a great amount of cinematography and mis en scene, to develop the film, and produce the effectiveness that has been shown. The props, lighting, sound, and camera position, are the key features to the success of these movies.

Introduction
Introduce the genre and its main conventions or codes. Draw a comparison between the two films and their directors in terms of the genre. Identify and briefly discuss the particular elements that you will be analysing.
The romantic genre is one that is close to all of our hearts, drawing on child hood fantasies and inspiring us to dream big things. The two particular scenes that I will be comparing are the titanic ice burg scene and the aqua marines scenes where aqua is pused in to the water, and Raymond comes to save her s she is being sucked back out to sea. Both of which are strong in terms of the director’s choices for mis en scene, cinematography and sound and editing. My focus is on looking at the elements of lighting, acting and props which are particularly strong.

Film Still:

I think this picture is a scary movie, where this lady is being stalked, the dark lighting under a lonley, quiet, and deserted tunnel, gives the impression that something bad is going to happen. The man is wearing a big dark coat, and is dressed in black, which makes it obvious that he is up to something. He is acting very suspicious.

Alien:
Genre:
Miese En Scene:
The movie Alian is classified as a science fiction movie, because it is an unrealistic movie, but made to look real by the effects that had been added. The lighting was dark, and flickered, to give the effect that it was a dark scene, and something bad was bound to happen. The setting was artificial, in a dungin, or a dark and deserted factory, and it gave the effect of being dark, hollow and very lonley place. The Male character was strong and showed that he was unnawear of what was to occure, he seemed very calm, he had no precautions. He wore a hiwian shirt, and casual pants, and a simple cap (this represents that it may have been daytime out side, and it has gotten darker, as he has come further into the factory, or that he had been looking for his cat for so long that night has fallen). The man was ovboiusly not expecting anything like this to happen. His only desire was to find his cat "Jonesy" and he showed no weakness to give up, striving for his goal to be reunited with his cat. In the background, there is a very simple, echo noise, and screeches, and bels, or chains moving, which represents the fact that it is pretty deserted, you can hear sudden screaches, and the mans heartbeat, which also focus on the fact that he was reletivley calm. This noise, creats anticipation, and keeps a suspence so the audience will continue to watch. The man becomes more aleart to the fact that there is something lurking in the building, when he hears noises, and finds the shedded skin of an alian.
Cinematography:
The camera angle, and position gives the effect in the movie. The camera position seems to follow the man who is searching for hiss cat, and follows over his sholder, it slows down, and focus on something. When something is bound to happen, and the noises get very intence, the camera flickers around in differnt angles and positions, as if it were him looking for something in the room. Sudden jols, and movements along with the sound effects that go with it, represent many elements and drematic effects. There is much happening in the camera, and fast movements, then all of a sudden it flicks back to the shocked face of the cat, and you get a relief from what you have just seen that it is all over, the suspence is gone, the man has died, and you feel anxious still wondering about the cat. After a very fast and intecne scene, it flick over to a calm and more relaxed scene.

Conematology: Is the making of lighting and camera choises when recording photographic images for the cinema. It is closely related to the art of still photography. Many additionhal issues arise when both the camera and elements of the scene may both be in motion, though this also greatly increases the creative possibilities of the process.
Mise en scene: Is an expression used in theatre and film to discribe the design aspects of a production. It has been called film critism's "grand undefined term" because the term has many different meanings.
